Juventus have officially parted ways with manager Thiago Motta after just nine months in charge, replacing him with Croatian coach Igor Tudor.
The 42-year-old former Italy international leaves the 36-time Serie A champions with the club sitting fifth, just one point outside the Champions League qualification spots.
Motta's final match in charge ended in a 3-0 defeat at Fiorentina, following a heavy 4-0 loss to Atalanta at home the previous week. Juventus also failed to progress past PSV Eindhoven in the Champions League play-offs and were knocked out of the Coppa Italia, a competition they won last season.
Juventus have turned to former club legend Igor Tudor, who made over 150 appearances for the club between 1998 and 2007. The 46-year-old Croatian has since gained managerial experience with Hajduk Split, Galatasaray, Udinese, Verona, and Marseille. His most recent role was a brief three-month stint at Lazio at the end of last season.
Tudor's first game in charge will be a crucial home clash against Genoa in Serie A on Saturday. With Champions League qualification still within reach, Juventus fans will be hoping the new appointment can quickly turn the club’s fortunes around.
