Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) can secure a record-extending 13th Ligue 1 title with just a draw at home against Angers on Saturday.
With a commanding 21-point lead, PSG has dominated the French top-flight this season. Under Luis Enrique, the Parisian giants remain unbeaten in 27 league games and could finish the campaign without a single loss.
However, Nice and Strasbourg, two clubs fighting for Champions League qualification, still stand in their way.
For PSG to lose the title race, an unlikely scenario would need to unfold—they would have to lose all seven remaining games while second-placed Monaco wins every match.
Given PSG’s stellar form, that seems improbable. Since their 1-1 draw with Reims on January 25, they have won eight straight league matches.
Despite their dominance, PSG has shown vulnerabilities. They have often started games slowly and struggled with defending set-pieces and crosses. Last weekend, they conceded first against Saint-Étienne, and in Tuesday’s French Cup semifinal, they were 2-0 down to Dunkerque within 27 minutes before storming back to victory.
One of the season’s biggest surprises has been Strasbourg’s incredible rise under English coach Liam Rosenior. Currently in sixth place, they have lost just once in their last 14 league games. With 12-goal striker Emanuel Emegha leading the charge, they are firmly in the race for a Champions League spot.
Strasbourg, riding a four-game winning streak, faces relegation-threatened Reims on Sunday. They are just one point behind fourth-placed Nice and three points behind third-placed Marseille, with the top four teams earning Champions League berths.
Will PSG seal the title this weekend, or can their challengers extend the race?
