Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson Becker has returned to the club after suffering a suspected concussion while playing for Brazil in their 2-1 World Cup qualifying victory over Colombia.
The 32-year-old shot-stopper was substituted late in the match following a heavy collision with ex-Tottenham defender Davinson Sánchez on Friday. As a precaution, Alisson will undergo further medical assessments at Liverpool upon his return to Merseyside.
Brazil’s team doctor, Rodrigo Lasmar, confirmed Alisson sustained a head injury and was substituted due to concussion concerns.
"Alisson suffered a head injury and was replaced due to a suspected concussion," Lasmar stated after the game.
"We will now follow the CBF concussion protocol, and he will undergo the recommended tests. If all results are normal, we will conduct a cognitive test before making a full evaluation.
"At the moment, he is symptom-free, has not reported memory loss or fainting, and is in stable condition."
The injury means Alisson will miss Brazil’s upcoming World Cup qualifier against Argentina on Tuesday. However, Liverpool will hope to have their No.1 available for the Merseyside derby against Everton at Anfield on April 2.
With nine Premier League games remaining, Arne Slot's side currently hold a commanding 12-point lead at the top of the table as they push for another league title.
