Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes has been reassured by manager Ruben Amorim that he will remain at Old Trafford, despite recent speculation linking him with a £90 million move to Real Madrid.
Speaking on Monday, Amorim shut down reports of a potential transfer, insisting the 30-year-old Portuguese midfielder is a crucial part of United’s future plans.
"No, it's not going to happen," Amorim said when asked about the rumors. "I want Bruno here because in our toughest moments this season, he impressed. We want to win the Premier League again, and to do that, we need our best players to stay."
Since arriving from Sporting Lisbon in 2020, Fernandes has played 277 games, scoring 95 goals and providing numerous assists. Amorim emphasized his importance to the team, stating:
"He's 30, but he still plays 55 games a season. With his goals and assists, he's involved in at least 30 goals per campaign. He’s exactly the type of player we need, so he's not going anywhere."
Fernandes remains under contract at Manchester United until 2027, and Amorim believes the midfielder is happy at the club.
"We are in control of the situation, and I feel he is really happy here," Amorim added.
