Former Celtic and Hibernian boss Neil Lennon has been named Dunfermline Athletic’s new manager on a short-term deal until the end of the season. The 53-year-old aims to bring an "exciting brand of football" as he looks to steer the club away from relegation danger.
Lennon’s appointment comes just four days after the sacking of Michael Tidser, who lasted only 60 days in charge.
Dunfermline currently sit second-bottom in the Scottish Championship, occupying the relegation play-off spot after winning just once in their last eight games.
The former Northern Ireland international arrives after a short spell with Rapid Bucharest, where he was dismissed in August after just three months at the Romanian club.
Speaking to the club’s website, Lennon expressed his enthusiasm for the challenge, revealing that Dunfermline’s new American owners made a "very compelling proposition" about their long-term ambitions.
Lennon will be assisted by Iain Brunskill, the former Liverpool academy technical director, who also worked alongside him at Rapid Bucharest.
Dunfermline chairman and chief executive David Cook hailed Lennon’s appointment, emphasizing his top-level experience.
"Neil was our standout candidate. Having managed at the highest level in Scotland, he brings a wealth of experience to the club."
Lennon’s first test as Dunfermline manager will be a tough away fixture against third-placed Ayr United on Saturday, March 30.
