Bayern Munich legend Thomas Müller has officially announced that he will leave the club at the end of the current 2024/25 season, drawing the curtain on an extraordinary 25-year journey with the German giants.
In an emotional club statement, the 35-year-old forward reflected on his long-standing career with Bayern Munich, where he rose through the youth ranks to become one of the most decorated players in the club’s history.
“Today is not like any other day for me. My 25 years as an FC Bayern Munich player will come to an end this summer,” Müller shared. “It’s been an incredible journey, filled with unforgettable moments, incredible people, and countless triumphs. I’m thankful to have experienced it all with the club I love.”
“As my farewell, I only want one thing: to win more titles together and create memories that will last forever. We’re going to give everything to bring the Bundesliga title back to Munich and reach the ‘Finale Dahoam’.”
Having joined Bayern Munich as a youth player, Müller has become a symbol of the club’s identity, winning numerous trophies including multiple Bundesliga titles and the UEFA Champions League in 2020. His leadership, vision, and footballing intelligence have made him an irreplaceable figure both on and off the pitch.
Bayern sporting director Christoph Freund praised Müller’s legacy:
“Thomas Müller is the epitome of a footballer—pure instinct, vision, and commitment. There will never be another like him. He embodies what FC Bayern stands for, and this decision, while difficult, was made with mutual respect and transparency.”
Müller’s departure also comes after his recent retirement from international football following Germany’s exit at UEFA Euro 2024. He finishes his national team career with 131 caps and 45 goals.
As Bayern Munich chase more silverware in the final weeks of the season, fans will have one last chance to celebrate the remarkable career of a club icon whose impact on German football will never be forgotten.
