A lifelong Nottingham Forest supporter is set to make a heartwarming return to the City Ground after nearly three decades away.
Marjorie "Marj" Graves, a 101-year-old fan from Bulwell, Nottingham, will attend Forest’s Premier League clash against East Midlands rivals Leicester City on 11 May. The club is rolling out the red carpet to celebrate her unwavering dedication to the Reds over the past 93 years.
Marj, who now lives at Fairway View Care Home, became a Nottingham Forest fan at just eight years old and attended her first match in 1931 with her father and brother. Although she hasn’t been able to attend games in person for many years, she’s remained a passionate supporter, following every match on TV or radio.
“I’m ever so excited to be going,” she said. “I love the atmosphere and the crowd singing 'Mull of Kintyre'—that’s my favourite part.”
Thanks to a social media post from care home staff highlighting Marj’s incredible devotion to Forest, the club stepped in to treat her to a VIP experience. She’ll be joined at the match by staff members and fellow Forest fans from the care home.
“I’ve never seen Forest play this well,” Marj said. “They’re brilliant right now, and I wouldn’t want to pick a favourite player—they’re all doing so well.”
Currently sitting third in the Premier League and fresh off a semi-final FA Cup run, Nottingham Forest is enjoying a standout season—and they’re thrilled to share it with one of their most loyal supporters.
A Nottingham Forest spokesperson said:
“We’re honoured to welcome Marj back to the City Ground, 93 years after her first visit. She’s truly a part of the Forest Family, and we’ve planned a special day to make sure it’s one she’ll never forget.”
With the club pulling out all the stops, May 11 promises to be an unforgettable matchday—not just for Marj, but for every fan who witnesses this touching moment of football history.
